more often than not my excitement for a movie/game/comic/TV show is dependent on the villain of the story. Some of the worst media ive read or watched are the ones where the bad guys is weak or ineffectual. A good story, especially in the action/adventure genre NEEDS a good villain to juxtapose against the virtue of the protagonist. One of the things that makes Blood Meridian great is that Judge Holden is the bad guy in a story of bad guys. The problem with this newest crop of human shaped vegetables is that they want to see the world as it SHOULD be and not how it is. And the way it SHOULD be is the way their activist professors told them it should be.
Yeah. I do agree about Holden. And it's not like he's just a bad guy. He's smarter, faster, machiavellian, and completely better for it. And in the Wild West, that meant being dead and alive. And Judge Holden is definitely a forever villain. I don't see how any writer can read Blood Meridian and think they can duplicate it, either.
And the SJW activist professors don't have it in them to see what reality is. They have their ivory tower. That's it. Will post a note regarding more of this idea. But yeah, it's hard enough to tell a story but then fear that someone will rewrite it because of whatever ism is hot for the next few minutes.
