In the world of Star Wars, where hope, light and dark, are part of the every day characters lives, the legacy is still at risk more than ever. While many on all sides are cheering for the Acolyte’s cancellation on Disney Plus, there’s a problem surfacing at the heart of Disney and the legacy thus far.
With only shows Mandolorian, Andor, and Rogue One, resembling anything of quality, being the only commercial successes for Disney since acquiring the Star Wars IP. The reality of the Acolyte’s cancellation is one of jubilee and fear. While the Acolyte was even terrible in the mainstream media[1] Disney must focus on what stories the Star Wars IP will carry and what this means going forward.
Nothing is assured. No one should be celebrating the Acolyte’s cancellation, because it not only shows how grossly incompetent the leadership at Disney is by hiring activists instead of story tellers. That’s one reason. The other is the Acolyte’s cancellation is a reminder that Disney will go out of their way to destroy an IP just to make the fans hate the series, just because of woke identity politics infesting the world at large in 2024.

The outcome is that Disney’s fault in misreading the audience’s expectation has now born fruit. The studio that prided itself on excellence and imagination is now a creatively bankrupt whorehouse with no real intuition or energy left to boost the IP any further.
But will Disney learn the lesson? Probably not. There’s no telling what horrible Star Wars shows will come about, and while many might rejoice, many should just hope that Disney sells Star Wars before it becomes another obsolete legacy franchise with no real purpose. The same can be said of everything. Every story must have an end.
But to die out with lesbian space dance is not what George Lucas intended. But be careful what you wish for. A cancellation might just mean more bad shows to come, or at least, hopefully, selling the franchise to a company that might take care of it.
[1] After twelve fucking years since Disney bought it from George Lucas, right? I guess losing money is a thing for Disney, and not generating it. Really great when it comes to stock holders meetings. Wonder what poor artist and designer is going to get fired over the gross incompetence made thus far.
