Oscars Bombed Once Again (2021)
For those who have been reading me for quite some time I have pondered the very nature of awards ceremonies and how frivolous they are. They dress up in gowns, lovely, and I like seeing pretty people too. But if the very nature of the film industry has been decimated during the China Virus pandemic prohibiting films from filming on location. Not every film can be made on a green screen, so this was probably going to affect the film industry the most. What isn’t surprising is that the film industry has been a host for pedophiles, and rapists with enough money that they can get away with whatever they want. But we already know this.
If anyone hasn’t heard of the term “casting couch” they invented this term. So, with viewing ratings released, only 9.98 million viewers tuned in, according to 911 Breaking (https://twitter.com/Breaking911). Yes, that’s probably the entire Manhattan district that tuned in.

What is not upsetting is that it’s the most just punishment that a film industry can have for the way they disrespected the nation for the last four years under President Trump’s administration. That’s not the issue. The problem is that with the Corona Virus destabilizing Americans ability to go to a movie, it crippled the ability to. But also, movies haven’t been really good since Lord of the Rings and Passion of the Christ.
And the preaching of awards shows were cringe to the point that people don’t want to hear about it anymore. It’s the celebrities screeching that turns viewers off completely. Like I said that there are a handful of films since LOTR and Passion of the Christ that were good. Marvel films were meant to be entertaining, nothing more. So, the issue is, does this leave a void for good dramatic films that aren’t Marvel or blockbuster related? Yes. And it shows that nobody cared about the films nominated.
The only film that deserved to be a winner was Tenet, and I only gave it a 5 out of 10 (but not for the reason you suspect). But the problem I always had with Oscars and awards is that it doesn’t affect the normal human person. Youtube matters more to the American and global entertainment business.
The Oscars have been dead for a long time. It gets boring to pretend that movies are artistic expressions anymore. I just want to sit back and chill out and laugh to youtubers, and write books, or articles that represent what I and every person thinks. It’s the agency of the self talented man that angers the rich bourgeois elites of sunny Los Angeles. The stars and directors had to do terrible things to make it in Hollywood. You and I would be very different if you had to keep the secrets of perverts like Harvey Weinstein.
Truly though, If Taylor Swift wants to help me, have sex with me. That’s the best she can do for me. And I would let Bill Burr narrate my books just because that man is a savage, and I would use a Ouija board to call back Don Rickles and George Carlin to give there retarded leftist children the voice of reason again. But they would call them alt right trolls because they can’t take a joke anymore.
You know what killed Hollywood? Hollywood did, not average viewers. People are hip to what Hollywood thinks, and finally, people don’t care. Unless it’s the Joker, or something truly genuine. And Marvel went woke so quickly it ended there ten year film domination. (And word around the campfire is that It’s the only time Disney paid for tickets to Captain Marvel, selling out the theater, but then never returning, proving that Captain Marvel was a complete failure of a film). And yes, I hear when those people think “Oh this person hated Captain Marvel.” I didn’t hate the film until the fact that Brie Larson made it impossible. No one wants to hear “don’t see this movie, but see this movie” schtick. It becomes a selfish reason to want fans, and then only take the fans you want. Please, Brie, you’re not fooling us and nor is Hollywood.
I could buy the idea of bias being subtle. And everyone gets subtlety Hollywood, we aren’t stupid. The fact that you think we are stupid is how and why your films don’t succeed. If you don’t make films that are genuinely entertaining have no place. Mank, with Gary Oldman, was ideological, but you could draw comparisons with the modern day, that I didn’t mind watching it. Plus I am fascinated with writers and how broken they are. (see my review for an in depth detail on Mank).
But overall, a TOOL lyric really does come to mind, “What became of subtlety” Indeed, Hollywood, indeed.
