Last of Us: Episode 6 Review "Kin": 1.5/5 Bargain Bin!

For the Last of Us, it’s more than preposterous for the series to have hit the wall. After Sam and Henry’s death, the series itself has only become once again a small disappointment among the world of series.
For starters, we do have the whistling scene from the Last of Us game, which helped, but the connection there is once again the only good quality. They made Maria a complete fucking idiot. She tries to create distrust between Ellie and Joel. It’s really fucking odd and compeletly off kilter for Maria. She calls Jackson a “commune” and says, “we’re communist.” Ick.
They made it to Jackson, which is great. Joel is confessing to his brother, but he confesses to Tommy. “I’m not who I used to be.” It’s really odd for me to see this story go from really hardcore to really lukewarm in one single fucking season. Almost seeing the world turn from amazing into shit.
They took out the raider sequence, where Ellie runs away, and he confronts her in her room, where she reads the diary is kept in Jackson. But Joel decides to take her, but Ellie chooses him. But the shoot out scene in the house is lost and in the game, makes you feel like you earned it with Joel, after he went all out for Ellie.
(This whole scene represents the way Joel has to accept his role in taking Ellie to the Fireflies. It’s still emotionally powerful and better than the show, ever.)
He teaches her what football is, too, and they make it to the University of Colorado. The monkeys are in it. The University of Colorado is amazing. Although they take out the scene where Joel falls off the ledge, and is implaled by a broken spike. It’s better, and they should have stuck with it.
(This scene represents one singular moment when Joel is truly injured and really pushes the game toward Ellie’s involvement in saving Joel’s life).
In the show he’s impaled by a large spike from a fight. Also, where’s the fucking flame thrower, too?
Again, more convenience, and it’s definitely not what I would expect from a well respected studio, HBO, but they can’t somehow respect the authenticity of the game. But HBO isn’t prepared to be authentic.
