Dave Rubin’s ‘Locals’ Move to Rumble
-For the Uncensored!
I was aware like most people were, and I’m not surprised why it didn’t really make headline news, but Dave Rubin, a former host of the The Young Turks, is being bought out by Rumble. A digital platform in the same way that Youtube was, or used to be. I think it’s weird for me that people are mad about Dave Rubin giving the company to Rumble. As someone who doesn’t use youtube to create videos, and I’m not in the business of making videos, so I think others would know more than me on that issue. I have done a few, and they are amateur. I’m probably more situated to a podcast than a video. I leave that to more talented people, as I know where my talents are.
The owner, Chris Pavlovski, from Branton Ontario, according to TheConversation.com’s Fizza Kulvi, PHD in Communications at McMaster University, “has described Rumble as different from YouTube and Facebook because it uses far fewer algorithms for recommending and reviewing content. It’s promoted as a streaming service where creators can gain exposure without fear of suppression or censorship.” [i] I don’t agree with Fizza’s claim about bolstering misinformation, and she cites that Peter Thiel, J.D. Vance, and Darren Blanton” all invested in the company. Yeah, like bullshit Russia Gate. So, this source speaks largely about Russia Gate paranoia from 2016-2018 that didn’t exist, and was confirmed by the Mueller Report that Russia had no involvement in the 2016 elections.[ii] So, this article is of its time, and it hasn’t aged well.[iii]
According to Honolulu Civil Beat, by Chad Blair, on August 12th, 2021, through the Hill, “which has grown in popularity among conservatives as an alternative to YouTube,” reached agreements with eight “thought leaders” to provide content, including Gabbard, a Democrat who represented Hawaii in the U.S. House for eight years, and journalist Glenn Greenwald. In a tweet about her new gig, Gabbard said, “Censorship of speech must end. There can be no democracy without free speech. I want to invite you to join me here on Rumble and support a platform that is committed to free speech, and that stands diametrically opposed to big tech monopolies, censorship, and policing.” Chad Blair also commented, “Rumble’s commitment to factual, fair reporting is in question.” [iv]
No, I don’t agree Chad. It’s hard to pretend that people who quote the Hill actually see this trusted sources either. Not every platform has to be a bastion for mainstream media thought. And Tulsi Gabbard is so straight laced I don’t believe she would violate any guidelines. The problem is free speech isn’t free when people want to make money. And that’s another problem to consider. Which some of my readers might already know, but this is important to remember.
According to a Fox News article by Audrey Conklin on October 16th, 2020, “Facebook and Twitter employees have sent more than 90% of political donations to Democrats so far in 2020, according to news reports. That amount includes "all federal donations" from Facebook and Twitter employees this year based on records available through OpenSecrets.org, a research group that tracks money in politics by the nonprofit Center for Responsive Politics. Employees at both tech giants contributed millions in individual donations and PAC donations, an analysis from the conservative watchdog group Media Research Center found.” That results in over “$347, 270” according to the Conklin article.[v] The thing is Twitter from 2008 to 2015 was a free speech platform. They just decided to censor anyone who had a different opinion from democrats, which could turn on there own, creating enemies that aren’t supposed to be there. Like myself. And I do see a threat to civil liberties happening everyday in America.
To make a long point short, money rules the world. Or as the Wu-Tang Clan have said, “Cash Rules Everything Around Me. CREAM, get the money.” Dave Rubin has to survive too.
So with that being said, I’m sure of two things. It could mean that Dave Rubin is “selling out” which to me could be alarming. I understand why people like Tim Pool are upset and Ian, with his long golden locks, barks toward as his mouth spews psilocybin rants that often begs the question why Tim hired him in the first place. Probably to chew deltoids and drink Mountain Dew at the same time to test his theory if he’s a pigeon or not.
But seriously, I get his argument on why “owning your company is important” and I get the complicated effort it takes to run a business. Being independent is ten time likely more reliant on donations and living behind a paywall. I remember starting a locals account and I had to pay for it. I get Dave Rubin’s perspective on “you have to pay for your electricity” but if the Catholic Church demanded that you give money every time you go to Church, or to even walk in, can create problems. It’s why no one wants to be a Scientologist. Also they are fucking nuts, so why would anyone pay for that abuse?
If the confirmation of this spells doom for individuality, I don’t get the big deal behind him moving over to Rumble. That’s what I originally thought. But according to a youtuber, RidgeDale, “The people they courted, like Steven Crowder, and many many other content creators. They have spicier content. The fact is that Rumble is inconsistent, and they have zero policy infractions. And yet, the video is gone. I did say the fuck word.” But he goes onto mention that Rumble can remove anything they find “undesirable.”[vi] While Ridgedale Brand is not a huge youtuber, with 917 subscribers, he brings up a point of being censored in his video. There could be validity to Ridgedale Brands story, but this is up to the reader to decide. If Dave Rubin can bring some hard hitting reporting to Rumble, and shake them up, then it might be a good thing.
We’ll see. For the first time, I leave all this information for you to consider. Unless you believe Russia is still at play in our elections then I think you need to jump off a bridge.
I get why Dave Rubin was bought out by Rumble, and I get why Free Speech is important too. I get every side of this issue, and the bottom line is, free speech will “find a way” to quote Jurassic Park (1993). We will always find a way.

[ii] Just had to do that so the asshole left who are redaing this can remember what they have done. And they are quite proud of it. Fuck you and cope. Now, back to the article.
[iii] But it was important as I had to investigate the idea of Rumble, since I barely know the platform.
