Chapter 382 of Berserk 4/5 “Here You Pass On”

Following Chapter 381 where Guts is being led off by the Kushan Monks to a prison, there’s a dread. But Guts doesn’t seem to mind it. His face is more exhausted and lost, because everything seems to have led up to this moment. A place where Guts has to go. He doesn’t fight it. The company follows Guts, and Silat’s crew knows “the ground is forbidden . . . if you wish to turn back, now is the time.” Silat doesn’t listen and they follow. Silat secretly wants Guts to fight back. He knows he can. But the high priest calls the place “it being the end of the world.”

Guts is brought to a temple, “a forgotten tomb . . . a stupa” and in Buddhist terms, this is a place of meditation and healing. The old priest expresses a certain death wish upon Guts, “Here you pass on.”

Guts expression, as it was interesting to see, one of benign acceptance, as if he needs to do this.
