-For the Uncensored!
What is not a shock to me and my readers, Elon Musk, on October 28th, 2022, has achieved the unthinkable that no living artist could ever manage. Twitter, the bastion of censorship, has now been released by Elon Musk. But why does this relate to art and culture? The contradiction of art and culture is censorship. The ultimate sacrifice to censorship is when social media, like Twitter, was banning Conservatives and many lefties, who dared question the left, especially the entertainment industry. For new artists who don’t agree with corporate media think are a few a dozen, but social media itself, is relevant to all artists. Because most artists promote their articles, thoughts, songs, opinions, all on social media. It’s the new media that has helped so many new artists, like myself, come to the forefront and many find other artists they respect and admire. It’s the equivalent of meeting in a bar, in 2022. The town square.
But with Elon Musk, freedom of speech specifies a few key issues.
The contradiction of social media enterprise to censor individuals, from political figures, like “Alex Jones, and right wing Comedian Milo Yionnopolus, might be coming back” according to Tim Pool.
Censorship is a crisis to all cultures, no matter who is at the helm. If the right or left have too much control of censorship, there would be an inequality. The failure in Twitter is not what it began, but in 2016, the company itself began to censor Conservatives who were found guilty of just having an account, even. And for artists people should worry about this. Whether they are political or not.
Elon Musk, isn’t an artist, but he is a businessman, creator of the Tesla electric cars, building space ships, now owns Twitter. What is essential is that Elon Musk cares about freedom of speech, and many who perceive there freedoms to be guaranteed in the Constitution, aren’t on Twitter. Elon Musk, with his witty ingenuity, released a trailer on his Twitter page which said, “Elon Musk will be walking into the building, let that sink in” and Elon Musk is walking in, holding part of a kitchen sink.
The man himself couldn’t have made a more hilarious but daring entry into his career, as he now is taking the company private, and wants to clear out the Twitter bots that plagued the site. Only an artist would cut 75 percent of the company, like a novelist gutting out the fat of a long novel. But the artistic implication of algorithms, used by Twitter and fellow US government employees who infested Twitter, are being cut loose. Fired. Rejected. Blood clots swarming through Twitter’s wings, allowing the bird to fly.
It must be scary. For Twitter employees who proudly censored Conservatives, myself included, with my accounts locked out, too. But the buyout might be creative genius, as the world itself now can witness Twitter as a free speech platform, again.
“Comedy is now legal on Twitter” mused Musk, as today, it’s a big day for art and freedom of speech. Algorithms itself were an AI form of censorship. Not a good thing for anyone to think about. Especially if you’re a lefty. Freedom of speech is a bad thing to a grown man baby who can’t handle what people say, or even offer a slight whiff of criticism.
Because if someone smells, you tell them they smell like shit. But at Twitter, that day has finally come. As Elon Musk said, “Comedy is now legal again.”
