-For the Uncensored!
What honestly makes books the ultimate release is that it’s not hurting anyone. Unless you talk to Christain Right “Jehovah Witnesses” who think that Harry Potter is a gateway to Satanic Thinking. Or when Fanatical Muslims thought it was a good idea to burn Salman Rushdie’s the Satanic Verses in 1989, thus leading shitbag Ayatollah Kohmeni to order a fatwah against the author, himself. There’s no end to the spectrum of artistic measures that have offended their way through libraries. Teaching children about sexuality, when the book is clearly aimed for adults, has always been controversial, not just in recent memory. The idea of pornography and art is often like mixing water and oil together. But it does vary from reader to reader. But Censorship lies at the heart of banned books, no matter what political or business seems to find offensive.
Banned books, such as Ray Bradbury’s “Fahrenheit 451,” Salman Rushdie’s “The Satanic Verses,” Bret Easton Ellis’s “American Psycho,” George Orwell’s “1984,” Chuch Palahniuk’s “Fight Club,” Lewis Carrol’s “Alice in Wonderland,” JRR Tolkien’s “The Lord of the Rings,” Nikoz Kazantkis’s “The Last Temptation of Christ,” Ernest Hemingway’s “The Sun Also Rises,” The Anarchists Cookbook, Dan Brown’s “The Da Vinci Code,” Toni Morrison’s “Beloved,” Vladimir Nabokov’s “Lolita,” JK Rowling’s Harry Potter series, "Abigail Shrier’s Irreversible Damage: The Transgender Craze,” Stephen King’s “Cujo,” “Carrie,” “The Dead Zone,” and “Christine” are among the few that make the top tier list of banned books across the world. Offense is often a sticky and incomprehensive logic when books are involved. It depends on the context involved, but banned books also help create a conversation, too. And can help make an author rich, too. It’s an honor but also a curse, if people do not read or buy the book, either.
Books, to me, are the epicenter of high and low art, because it takes the will to commit and put your eyes to another’s vision. Like a video game, you live in that creator’s vision, except with words, and what visual portraits the author can achieve. Even if you might find it detestable. To ban books takes a special kind of asshole. But the conversation around each book depends on person to person, library to library. It’s not in my best area to judge or hold something accountable for “bad taste” because I don’t share many opinions regarding Censorship as good to anyone.
Censor someone and you will become censored yourself. Debate is what creates a conversation regarding what should be censored or not, because once something is banned, it becomes a hot topic. In the era of “banning” or “hate watching” the only thing that can kill any hot or controversial book is indifference. Hatred doesn’t change anyone’s opinion. A cool “meh” might just kill a hot topic, than banning the book itself.
