-For the Uncensored!
While the despair of being cancelled has been the topic of many articles, and many artists are willing to cancel themselves, none more than establishment lefties are ready to cancel themselves in order to prove a point. Oh yes, dear reader, the failure in society that when principles often don’t match up with current culture. The outcome is that Joe Rogan, in his state, is the God of Spotify. While Joe Rogan is an agreeable guy, the fortunate purpose of Joe Rogan is to provide some semblance of order amidst chaos. He wants interesting guests on in order to have a conversation. Many ideological lefties were pissed that Joe Rogan is friends with Alex Jones, and I won’t deny anyone friends, no matter what side. I think having friends you have some common ground and respect are what makes society work. Europe itself has a bad habit of silencing people for their opinions. Last time I checked Britain has no freedom of speech or gun rights for any of their citizens. Plus it’s hilarious if you do consider the way self-cancellation is the way most rich people state their claim. They pretend they aren’t wealthy and they have some point to prove.
If the will of turning over the headless horsemen, Spotify, is to make sure the artist will not get paid, is what you do when nobody cares anymore. It’s like people who bring up conversations and then hush down the other in the terrible obnoxious attempt to feel superior when they are wrong to begin with.
It’s hard to imagine that more artists would pull their music from Spotify. I don’t have to pretend that being rich is nice. Self-Cancelled artists know they are getting paid either way. I wish it was true for principled believers who get cancelled by the media and society, but we will always be looked down on. For calling people out. Spotify and Joe Rogan do have a wonderful relationship.
He brings them more money than Howard Stern in his day could ever do. While thethings.com Dylan Parker reported on 10/20/2021, that “hosted his iconic Howard Stern Show (or some version of it) for around 40 years”[i] the world is a very different place. Many people have their own podcast. It’s hard not to feel that sting. When someone who has worked 40 years to find their place is now the subject of hypocrisy.
But then Spotify deems itself a free speech platform. But Self Cancellation is a drug. It makes you think you’re principled. Stern is already paid. People like Nils Lofgren, Brené Brown, India Arie, David Crosby, Stephen Stills and Graham Nash, Roxanne Gay, and Mary Trump, are a list of Self Cancelled artists who pretend there voices matter.[ii]Pretending to care when they need viewers and money.
But none of these artists, or pitiful excuses for entertainers, thinkers, are the least of society’s concerns. In the Times February 2nd, 2022 article by Mary Biekert of Bloomberg, stated, “Wall Street analysts and investors aren’t convinced the controversy will affect the company’s bottom line.”[iii]
What makes self-cancellation so hypocritical is that these are rich people pretending they care about the little people. Yeah, tell that to my Republican friends over the last five years who have been harassed, cancelled, doxed, and their lives completely ruined by the media and the establishment democrats who placated the culture. Who bailed out Anti-fa in order to sow chaos in 2020.
What I do find sanctimonious is the will of the rich pretending they don’t care about their wealth. I guess when you have a lot of money you can afford to lose a few millions. Self-published artists, thinkers, and true geniuses are not within the mainstream culture anymore. It’s hard to pretend that money doesn’t matter. When the culture will call you heroes one day but then force you to go back to work and wear masks so that the rich can feel comfortable with you serving them food.
I’m not laughing because this is life in 2022. When artists like Neil Young have to cancel themselves in order to prove a point about misinformation. It’s a blessing when artists cancel their art in the name of “misinformation” when half of Hollywood Elites have everything they ever wanted. Try telling that to starving middle class America who are now poor thanks to COVID-19 lockdowns.
Art itself must stand against the hypocrisy of a dying media corporation and those who deem the “good people” of society. Artists are poor. They have to make money either way. But to rob themselves of money is truly fascinating. Invalidating their art in order to appease the corporations. Again, I didn’t even know if Neil Young, Nils Lofgren, Brené Brown, India Arie, David Crosby, Stephen Stills and Graham Nash, Roxanne Gay, and Mary Trump, existed on any Spotify platform until now.
Am I going to miss them? Will anyone? Money and streams talk in the digital world. Nothing you say can make me pretend that I don’t think about Eminem’s chorus on “Criminal” as he states, “Every time I think about a rhyme I tell them what’s on my mind, and I don’t have to say a word I just flip them the bird, and keep going I don’t take shit from no one.”
It’s almost the anthesis of what most artist would do. Rebellion is just a spat in the face to corporations. If the consistency of values change in an artist’s lifetime, the consistency is a turn off for some, and to the public, creates no trust between artists, their art, and the world they have to offer. That’s not what I’m seeing in Neil Young, or anyone cancelling themselves. Art. It’s what I see is not especially artistic. Pretending that Neil Young doesn’t hate homosexuals is laughable, at best. When it’s learning that you only want money is why self-cancelled artists are keyboard warriors at best. Propagandists in the very eyes of Nazi Socialists employed through legacy media sources. All of the craft that Neil Young or those protesting Joe Rogan have traded witchcraft, alchemy, creativity, for profit and stability.
It’s not that nobody wants nothing, but the stability and art must be entwined to meet the artist and the demands his fan base ask for. Like a lock of hair on a finger, for good luck. But cancellation is the very danger that will destroy artists and corporations, too. But corporations have made their bed.
If cancellation is admittedly put upon by the corporations, it’s hard for people to carry any real values or principles. It’s fascinating to watch rich people pretend that they care about the little people. I know I may be repeating this, but it’s not just humorous, but it’s damning too. I might just open up my old Spotify podcast and start talking on it again.
And this is all over Joe Rogan. A pot head comedian who talks about alien life and drugs. It just shows you what the Lame Stream media and corporate group think portends. Because this is not about art, grammar, syntax, Point of view, plot, sentence structure, visual cues, motifs, metaphor, or character. I wish that established artists could extoll on their craft and talk about what is important. But if we can’t laugh at the ridiculousness of celebrities, this will drive us all insane. If Cancellation is the Meteor hell bent on destroying all entertainment, and Joe Rogan is a beacon of freedom of speech, the only scientist here to save us. But like I said, your hero’s will disappoint you at some point. Just hope they disappoint you in their art and not by their opinions.
But Self Cancelled Artists always suck while they’re spreading a message. But then, all I want is freedom of speech, and nothing resembling free speech comes from corporations. Individuals who risk everything don’t self cancel for the sake of “misinformation.” But here’s a message for the government: If the government wants me taken down all I have to say is “come and take it,” because independent artists are tougher to pay off. We don’t take threats lightly. Also, you can’t pay people who live off the grid either. So, if being like Neil Young is an appetizing adventure, maybe order some dignity next time before you come after the American people. We own lots of guns and we have lots of opinions. If you want to cancel someone, cancel yourself first. It will hurt less people than you think. Then you’ll still be jerking off to people who have a conscience and a spine. Because self cancelled artists are the worst. Don’t be like that children. It’s not good for your health.
