Ancient Culture # 11: Why the Bible is More Accessible than the Quran!

I think for the purposes of the discussion the idea is such the topic. You could argue it on many levels. But the considerable amount of morality lessons that the Bible has over the Quran proves that accessibility is what the Council of Nicaea didn’t think about, because they wanted all the story’s of the Bible to coalesce and gel together. If the failure around the Quran is mere readability, there are those who try to clear up the language of Islam. But the Bible is a curious book. It seems to give off the impression that no matter what you’re reading, in the Old Testament, it proves two things right. It proves that no matter the confusion, the Bible is following a close line of families that spread out throughout the ancient world. The Quran seems to be about one man, Muhammed. It doesn’t seem to follow a larger society beyond the Prophet’s bloodline. According to vawnet.org, “In Islam there is no family without union ormarriage and there is no marriage without rules and discipline. The family in Islam is a unit in which two independent persons unite and share life together. The husband's dignity is an integral part of his wife's dignity.” So in that sense marriage is a sacred idea in Islam as well as Christianity.[i]
But the Quran itself is only accessible to those who would convert. And those who leave Islam are called “Apostate.” It’s an unfair disadvantage that a book can cause so much hatred between people. If you count the negative actions surrounding Islam, this would be a different article, but sometimes there are negative aspects to religions. Islam, Christianity, and Judaism are three religions that have survived since there inception.
Ancient texts themselves are meant to be dense, because they were written at another time with less modern standards. The Bible, no matter how one reads it, is meant to be read again. What the Bible seems to pull off is that grand epic scale of battles, morality tales, and life lessons, as not everyone in the Bible is a good person. David in the old testament, spies on a woman in a bath, who then he sends the husband to die in battle in a suicide mission. In the Quran, it doesn’t want to give that epic scale of battles but more of the Bible’s greatest hits. In the Quran, Jesus is mentioned over “90 verses in 15 surrahs” as surrahs are chapters and verses are almost equivalent to verses in poetry.
In Surrah 2: 136, the verse mentions Jesus and Mary, as “we make no difference between one and another of them”[ii]. For this should be what unites Christians and Muslims, but does the accessibility of the book still matter? No doubt that religions can sometimes mention other prophets, but to Islam’s credit, this is the strengthening bond between Muslims and Christians. But the Jews also have their ideas about Jesus as well, but this is for another essay.
The accessibility of the Bible though is not just about “people of the book”[iii] but more than just people of the book, but a nation of believers across all cultures and creeds. Whereas Islam rejects the apostates, Christianity accepts any who stray away from the faith. The story of faith is not just through the faithful, but many who stray away from faith to return to it a better person. What proves equivocal for the Bible is that it’s a story about the human condition and the stories from the Bible is what has made Christianity highly more accessible.
It’s the acceptance of different cultures, and the world surrounding each believer gives each person a sole heir to Christianity. It’s the believer not the creator, like Muhammed, who is the ultimate winner in Christianity. But don’t ask about the Satanic Verses either. No Islamic person knows of this either.[iv]
[i] But don’t ask how they handle divorce because true Feminists wouldn’t want to convert to Islam or even deal with them if they knew. FYI Islamic men can just say “I divorce you three times” and that’s it. If the consequence of this doesn’t chill you to the bone, you deserve what you get and you get what you deserve.

[iii] A phrase that all followers of Islam adhere to, because it’s talking about the believers of the book and the book created by Muhammed.
[iv] Ask them about Salman Rushdie and the legitimatcy of his claims in the Satanic Verses and they will turn into the people they truly are.
